  22. This is version 1.0b4 of ResCicn, which is a color icon editor, composed of a set of resources
  23. that you must copy in ResEdit. Copy even the picker & the ldef as Apple's are quick and dirty).
  24. You may use it even if you don't have Color QuickDraw.

  26. You can switch between two modes with the cicn menu : Icon Editor and Sizing & Settings.

  28. The Icon editor mode allows you to edit the color icon, the mask and the black and white icon,
  29. using various tools, including circles, rectangles, paint bucket and much more. The color icon
  30. appears only if you have Color QuickDraw.

  32. You can always see, at the bottom of the window, the various aspects that the icon may take.
  33. You can see the current color and pattern in two blocks at the right of the tools palette. You
  34. should notice that the patterns are drawn using the current color, even if it is white.
  35. A pop-up menu appears when you press the mouse button on each of them. The first one lets you
  36. select a color included in the icon's color palette, or create a new one using the color picker.
  37. The second one lets you select a different pattern. If you double-click instead of pressing the
  38. mouse button, you can edit the current color using the color picker, or edit the current pattern.

  40. You can copy one view's (icon, mask or black and white icon) content to another by dragging its
  41. title to the other one's title, which should be inverted. When copying from the color icon's view,
  42. non-white pixels become black unless you press the option key, in which case non-black pixels
  43. become white. When copying to the mask's view, a mask is generated from the source view unless you
  44. press the shift key (even with the option key), in which case the source is simply duplicated.

  46. The Sizing and settings mode allows you to change various parameters, including the sizes, the
  47. color modes and so on. This mode is fresh-coded so be careful when resizing an existing icon.

  49. The "check box" on the left of the black and white icon allows you to x-able it. You may try the
  50. other options of this mode by yourself.

  55. Sometimes you can't draw with a color you've just created. Close the icon and reopen it !
